Colonial Williamsburg continues to be one of NationsClassroom's most popular student group trip destinations. And as the birthplace of America's revolution, it's easy to see why. During the day, visitors enjoy learning about 18th century colonial life on over 300 acres of historic property. But, by night? That's when some believe Colonial Williamsburg takes on a spookier feel and the real fun begins.
Now through November 16th, Colonial Williamsburg is offering two updated "haunting" after-dark experiences for visitors to explore the spookier side of Colonial Williamsburg... if you dare.
What is it: After dark, visitors are taken on an hour-long candlelit tour of some of the most "haunted" buildings in Colonial Williamsburg. Haunted Williamsburg tours are led by knowledgeable and entertaining colonial-costumed storytellers who share authentic 18th century ghost stories, straight from 18th century sources. And what sets this spooky tour apart from the rest? This is the only tour that takes visitors actually inside the Colonial Williamsburg historic houses, with only a lantern to light the way.
“That’s a really special thing,” said Lindsey Foster, creative director for the program. “… If you want to experience up close and personal, literally the only way to do that is ‘Haunted Williamsburg.’”
Haunted Williamsburg is suggested for brave souls and not recommended for young children - so if you have younger goblins traveling with you, you may want to check out "Ghost Walk Junior" instead.
Time Length: 60 Minutes
Suggested Ages: 8+ or older
