Good news, museum-goers! September 21st, 2019 marks the 15th annual Smithsonian magazine Museum Day. Participating museums and cultural institutions nationwide are offering free admission tickets for up to two people.
This annual event, hosted by Smithsonian magazine, celebrates the "boundless curiosity" of museum-goers across the nation - ranging from New York to Alaska. Even some animal centers have chosen to participate this year (Charles Paddock Zoo in California and the Swaner Preserve and Ecocenter in Utah).
To find participating museums and cultural institutions in your area, visit Smithsonian.com/museumday. Once you find a museum you want to visit, click the “Get a Ticket” button, enter your name and email, and download the branded ticket.
The Smithsonian's mission of providing equal access to museums for everyone is not new; Admission is free year-round for all Smithsonian museums and the zoo in Washington, D.C. In fact, 2019 is the Smithsonian's "Year of Music", a theme celebrated at all Smithsonian museums and zoo.
