Getting our Students Involved in Memorial Day

Posted by Stephanie Kelly, High School Teacher and Instructional Coach on May 31, 2018 11:09:51 PM

Memorial Day wasCannon recognized this past weekend across the United States, and for many of us, discussed this week in our classrooms.  One of the greater challenges as teachers can be how to teach our students to understand the sacrifices the men and women in the Armed Forces have made for our country.  However, one youth group in particular is leading the way.

The Boy Scouts gathered this past weekend in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to place American flags on the fallen soldiers’ graves, as has been their tradition for many years at the Soldiers’ National Cemetery.

We know the most powerful learning moments for our children are when they are engaged and interacting in authentic situations.  Are you ready to bring history to life for your students? Start planning ahead for next year by browsing our many trip itineraries, including trips to Gettysburg.
