The New York Times just put out its annual “52 Places to Go in 2019” list. And guess which popular NationsClassroom school trip destination made the list at #12?
Coming in at #12 on the New York Times’ “52 Places to Go in 2019” list is Williamsburg, Virginia
Maybe it’s because The Williamsburg area is observing its 400th Anniversary, but this historic area is receiving a lot of press this year; just last month Forbes Magazine named it one of 14 Places to Travel in 2019.
Times author John L. Dorman explains the recognition:
“In 1619, the area that includes the Jamestown Settlement, Williamsburg and Yorktown was home to some of the most significant events in American history: the official arrival of the first African slaves to North America, the convening of the first representative assembly in America and the first recorded proclamation of Thanksgiving in the New World.”
Dorman went on to highlight the following Williamsburg attractions:
Jamestown Settlement & the opening of the Tenacity Exhibition, highlighting the contributions of women during the Colonial era.
