This Day in History: The African American Civil War Memorial

Depositphotos_46477247_xl-2015Today marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington, D.C.  This memorial honors the over 200,000 African Americans who served in both the Navy and the Army during the American Civil War.  Because of their service, nearly 4 million slaves were eventually freed nationwide.
